April Showers

Mostly Cloudy and quite warm tonight. Showers and even some Thundershowers will develop late Tonight and will continue into Tomorrow Morning. We will  then see a break for awhile. Then more Showers and Thundershowers will re develop as a front moves our way. We should see a nice break in the weather for  mid week. But look for another round of April Showers and Thunderstorms to come our way again by late week.

Starting The Week Off On A Soggy Note

Keep the umbrella handy today as scattered showers will be a pretty good bet for most areas through the early afternoon hours. There will be a little bit of a break later this afternoon/evening, but another round of stronger showers/storms rolls into the area Tuesday morning. So April will come in on a potentially noisy note as gusty winds are possible tomorrow morning as these showers/storms roll through. We will keep you updated in the 6 Storm Center...

Keep The Umbrella Handy

The unsettled weather pattern we were in the past several days will continue as we start out this new work week. Today we will see more clouds than sunshine ans we will have some spotty rain chances, mainly the first half of the day. The will be a higher probability for showers/storms on Tuesday in the morning and then again in the evening hours. We should see a quieter weather pattern towards midweek.

Plenty Of Clouds

Mostly Cloudy and warm tonight.  We may see a few scattered showers overnight into early Monday. We will see plenty of clouds on Monday although we may see some sun from time to time. Temperatures will be warmer on Monday. We may see a few hit and miss showers but much of your Monday will remain dry after the threat of those morning showers has passed. As a front moves our way, Wet weather is likely late Monday Night and Tuesday. We should see sunshine return by Wednesday.

An Unsettled Pattern Continues

Look for another Mostly Cloudy day. We may see another round of showers in parts of the area by this afternoon. Mostly Cloudy tonight with a few more showers possible overnight. Monday will remain Mostly Cloudy but warmer. There is only a slight chance of any rain tomorrow. Then the main system will bring a Good chance of wet weather for the entire area by Tuesday.

An Unsettled Weather Pattern

Showers are likely tonight. Mostly Cloudy tomorrow with just a few hit and miss showers. We will see a break on Monday. Although we will still see plenty of clouds, temperatures will reach between 65 and 70. Monday should be a dry day. Another weather system will likely bring wet weather back by Tuesday.

Russellville Intermediate School

I just wanted to say hello to the 4th Grade at Russellville Intermediate School. Thanks for having me out to visit on March 28, 2008. I really enjoyed talking with your group. You are all going to do GREAT on those TCAP Tests but First-- Enjoy Your Spring Break.

An Unsettled Weather Pattern

After some steady early morning rain, we may see more scattered showers from time to time the rest of the day, but  it will not be an all day  rain. Another disturbance may bring scattered showers back to the region overnight and into Sunday Morning. Again, the rest of your Sunday may feature just a few more hit and miss showers. After a brief break on Monday, more wet weather is likely again by Tuesday.

Unsettled Weekend

As a cold front passes the region tonight some scattered showers are possible but heavy rain is not expected.  The weekend will be a little unsettled with more clouds than sunshine and cooler air in place.  The best chance of rain this weekend will be late Saturday into early Sunday with only a slim chance of getting wet the first part of Saturday. Warmer and drier air returns on Monday before scattered storms on Tuesday.

Rain Chances Return Today

Keep the umbrella handy today, because there will be an increased risk for scattered showers/storms as we go through the day (especially in the afternoon and evening hours). It will be mild again today as highs will top out in the upper 60s-lower 70s before the rains move in. The weekend shouldn't be a total wash-out, but there probably will not be a lot of sunshine either.

Very Mild Air Remains

A southwest breeze will continue tonight keeping temperatures well above normal levels for this time of year.  Plan on a partly cloudy sky with just a small chance for showers in the southern valley. Showers and scattered storms increase across the region ahead of a weak front on Friday followed by slightly cooler air this weekend as temperatures drop back to normal levels.

A Warm Afternoon On Tap

We will continue to see a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon along with a gusty Southwest wind which will push temperatures into the upper 60s and lower 70s area-wide (some 6-10 degrees above average). The mild conditions will continue into Friday, but a cold front will push through the region from midday on into the evening which will bring scattered showers/storms to most areas. It will also cool temperatures down just slightly (into the upper 50s-lower60s) for the upcoming weekend.

The Warm-up Continues Today

Another warm day is on tap with a mix of clouds and some sunshine. Gusty Southwesterly winds will push temperatures into the lower 70s today for most areas. There will be a chance for a few stray showers/storms along the Tennessee/Kentucky border through the day, but areas South of I-40 should stay dry. Rain/storm chances will be more likely area-wide through the afternoon/evening on Friday.

Another Mild Night

A partly cloudy sky along with a south breeze will keep it very mild again tonight. Most of Thursday looks dry with a small chance of showers along the Tennessee/Kentucky border. An approaching cold front will increase our chances of showers and storms late Friday into Friday night but it looks like most of the rain threat will end on Saturday morning with the balance of the weekend remaining dry.

Has Spring Finally Sprung?

On average the last freeze for Knoxville is March 29th and in the next 5-7 days a hard freeze doesn't look very likely. When asked though,  I always say hold off on planting the annuals in East Tennessee until tax day (April 15th). That said, the next few days look very good for doing yard work from a long Winter of lawn neglect. We will see a mix of sun and clouds today through Friday with highs warming from the 60s into the 70s and only spotty rain chances late week (mainly North of Knoxville).

Above Average Temperatures Develop Into The Weekend

The warm-up continues today thanks to an increasing Southwest wind, but we will see more clouds around today as compared to Tuesday. There will be the possibility for a few sprinkles around the Knoxville area, but the more likely places will be along the TN/KY border Northward.  There will be a better chances for rain area-wide late Friday into Saturday.

Not As Cold Tonight

A weak front moving into northern Kentucky will help increase the clouds overhead tonight. Those clouds combined with a light southwest breeze will keep temperatures several degrees warmer than last night but still a little below average. The best chance of scattered showers will be along the Tennessee/Kentucky border on Wednesday with a few sprinkles possible in the valley. More sunshine and highs in the 70's return for Thursday.

A Winter Wonderland For Some

charles_owen.JPG

It was an isolated, but beautiful early Spring snow for some East Tenesseans on Monday along the Foothills into the Smokies as some areas picked up 1"-2" of snow. We had many wonderful pictures form our viewers and a special thanks to all who sent them in, but I had to choose this one of snowy daffodils from Charles Owen of Madisonville. Enjoy this picture, because it will all be gone by this afternoon as sunshine and mid-upper 50s return.

The Thaw Begins Today

Finally Spring-like weather returns today...hopefully for good! We will see a mostly sunny sky today with an increasing Southerly wind (10-20mph), which will help push temperatures into the mid-upper 50s most areas. The warm up continues each day the rest of this week into Friday as we warm into the 70s. There will be a scattered storm threat returning, but most likely not until early Saturday.

Warmer Days Ahead

Snow and Rain Showers will end this evening. Clearing and cold overnight with most areas seeing temperatures in the 20's. Mostly Sunny and warmer tomorrow. Temperatures will recover tomorrow reaching 55 to 60. Tomorrow Night will be Much Warmer. A weak front will bring some clouds Wednesday with only a slight chance of a stray shower. The front will then lift back north allowing temperatures to approach 70 by late in the week.

Winter-Like Weather Across The Area This Afternoon

It IS Spring, but it will feel more like Winter this afternoon across the region. Cold Northwest winds will continue to filter into the area keeping temperatures in the low-mid 40s for most areas in the Valley and even colder for the Plateau and Mountains. There have been some light accumulations of snow along the Northern edges of the Plateau, along portions of the Southern Foothills and into the Smokies.

Is It Really Spring?

You might have to do a double take at the calender this morning...it is Spring, but it feels more like Winter. In fact, we will see some spotty light areas of rain mixed with a few snow flakes! There will be no travel problems though (could see a light dusting on some car tops and roof tops along the higher peeks of the Plateau/Mountains), just chilly temperatures in the 40s today. Sunshine returns Tuesday and we will try to warm back up to near 60.

A Cold Start To the Week

Becoming Mostly Cloudy and Cold tonight. A weak disturbance may bring some scattered snow or rain showers to parts of our area late tonight into Monday Morning. No problems are expected. They should end as Rain Showers by later in the day. It will be a very cool day with most temperatures holding in the 40's. Cleaing but cold Monday Night with many areas seeing temperatures in the 20's. Sunny and warmer by Tuesday. Look for Much warmer weather by mid to late Week.

Much Cooler For Easter

Mostly Cloudy on your Easter Sunday although some sun is still possible. It will be cooler with highs holding in the 50's. Parts of the Plateau and the Mountains may see temperatures hold in the 40's today. Mostly Cloudy and Chilly both tonight and tomorrow.  There is a SLIGHT chance of a Shower by tonight and Monday. Sunshine should return by Tuesday. Look for a warming trend much of next week.

Picture Perfect For Today

A perfect Spring day awaits you today as we will see plenty of sunshine (just a few high clouds late day) and highs in the mid-upper 60s. The weekend isn't bad, just a little cooler. We will see a mix of sun and clouds Saturday as a weak and dry cold front comes through early in the day which will cool things off for Easter Sunday. Sunrise is at 7:34am Sunday and we will start in the low-mid 30s.  Highs will be in the low-mid 50s with a mix of clouds and some sun and there will be a small chance for a few sprinkles late Sunday into early Monday.
