Mild Start To July

High pressure works into the region tonight moving the clouds out and bringing unusually cool air in for the next couple of nights. In fact, some areas could be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. The mild air will last through Thursday before the heat and humidity increase leading to a few isolated storms on July 4th.  Highs will be well into the 80's with a few scattered afternoon storms possible during the holiday weekend.

A Nice Break From The Heat

We will start the week with some cooler than average temperatures. Today most area will only be in the upper 70s to near 80 for highs and lows tonight and Tuesday Night will be in the 50s! It is hard to believe that it is the end of June/beginning of July. There will be a few spotty showers/storms today with the more likely areas seeing the rain along the TN/KY border. Sunshine returns Tuesday through Thursday and we could see a few storms return for the Holiday Weekend...stay tuned.

Very Pleasant Temperatures

Turning cooler tonight with a  few evening showers possible. Partly cloudy with lower humidity and very pleasant temperatures Monday. There is still the chance of a few hit and miss showers or thundershowers here and there. Becoming clear as temperatures drop into the 50's Monday Night !July starts on Tuesday and we will enjoy low humidity, comfortable temperatures and plenty of sunshine. After temperatures reach the 50's again Tuesday night, expect a gradual warm up mid to late week.

Cooler Days Ahead

Look for a mixture of clouds and sun today. As a late season cold front approaches, we may see more scattered afternoon and evening Showers and Storms. Some may become strong. Monday will be much cooler with still a slight chance of a stray shower of thundershower. We will then be treated to several days of very pleasant summer weather. Not only will the humidity be low but we may see a few nights with temperatures in the 50's this week.

More Showers and Storms

A strong late season cold front will bring us another GOOD chance of Showers and Storms late tonight continuing into part of Sunday. A few storms may be strong but this is also about your best chance of seeing some rain. As long as this front moves south of our area, we should be treated to some very pleasant summer weather during the early to middle parts of next week.

More Scattered Showers and Storms

Look for a few scattered evening Storms with patchy fog late tonight. Saturday will remain warm and muggy.  Once again, look for scattered afternoon and evening Showers and Storms. A few may become strong, although once again not everyone will see rain. A cold front will bring a GOOD chance of Showers and Storms later Saturday Night continuing into part of Sunday. A few storms may be strong but this is also about your best chance of seeing some rain.

Rain Chances Going Up

The Plateau saw some relief from the heat yesterday with some widespread thunderstorm activity, but not much made it here into the Valley...we hit 94 on Thursday! It won't be that hot today and we should see more scattered storm activity and some should make it into the Valley today.  The weekend will not be a total washout, in fact, the first 1/2 to 3/4 of the day will probably be dry. A strong cold front will push through the region late Saturday into Sunday and could have some strong to severe storms with it.

Scattered Showers and Storms

A Few evening Thundershowers are possible. Patchy Fog is possible late tonight. Partly Cloudy tomorrow along with more heat. While not everyone will see rain, look for scattered afternoon and evening Showers and Thunderstorms for some areas. A few storms may become strong. Look for about the same weather on Saturday. While we will NOT see an all day washout, there will be a good chance for afternoon and evening showers and storms. A late season cold front is moving our way. This front may bring an even better chance of Showers and Storms by Saturday Night and Sunday.

Spotty Rain Chances Return

The heat is on again today as most areas in the Valley will top out at or above 90, plus it will be a little more humid making it feel more like mid 90s. The increase in heat and moisture will lead to at least a few scattered afternoon storms with the more favored areas being the Plateau and Mountains. The opportunities for rain will be a little higher area-wide Friday and Saturday with the best bet Saturday Night into Sunday as a cold front pushes into the region (it is NOT expected to be a total washout for the weekend though).

More Heat

Mostly Clear tonight. Partly Cloudy and hot  again tomorrow with many areas approaching 90 degrees. There is just the chance of a  few scattered showers or Storms but many of you will remain dry again on your Thursday. By Friday and Saturday the pattern will change. While we will NOT see an all day Rain, the chance for scattered showers and storms will increase across the area on both days. A cold front trying to move south will keep the chance for Showers and Storms in the forecast for Saturday Night and Sunday.

A Quick Warm-Up Today

Mother Nature will turn up the heat today as many areas through the Valley will top out near the 90 degree mark and to make things worse, we will have an Air Quality Alert today due to the threat of higher Ozone concentrations near the surface (basically, if you have trouble breathing, take it easy today). We will see some spotty rain chances return Thursday and Friday, but the better chances hold off until the weekend.

A Beautiful Night

Another clear sky is expected across east Tennessee tonight and should allow temperatures to drop in the 50's in most areas.  The dry air will heat up rapidly again Wednesday under a mostly sunny sky as high pressure remains in control. A few clouds should mix in on Thursday with just a slight chance of a higher elevation thunderstorm.  Rain chances do look to increase again toward the weekend.

Quiet Through Midweek

Drier weather is expected the next few days as a weak area of high pressure settles into the Tennessee Valley. We will see lower humidity values with lots of sunshine, but we could use some rain (we have only had about half of our average June total). Rain chances will be spotty at best until the end of the week, but should go back up a little for the weekend.

Heating Up This Week

Rain chances remain on the slim side this evening as a weak cold front moves away and high pressure works back into the region.  Warm and dry air will remain through Wednesday with highs reaching the upper 80's in many areas.  Enough moisture will be present later in the week for a few isolated storms to fire in the heat of the afternoon.  Better chances for some rain may wait until the weekend.

Warmer Weather Returns By Mid-Week

Today will look a lot like yesterday with a mix of sun and clouds, highs in the mid-upper 80s and a few random afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Not everyone will see the rain, but those that do could pick up a quick quarter on an inch, some gusty winds and some lightning. We will see some cooler and drier air settle into the region tonight making for comfortable conditions by Tuesday morning. It should remain dry for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, but we will see a mid-week warm up and some pop-up storms as well with a more typical Summer-like pattern.

Scattered Storms Possible

We may see a few evening showers or thundershowers. Partly cloudy and warm on Monday with temperatures in the 80's. While not everyone will see rain, a weak disturbance will bring scattered Showers and Storms, especially tomorrow afternoon and evening. Behind this front, look for very comfortable temperatures Monday Night. Dry warm weather should return to our area by Tuesday and Wednesday. Summer heat will start to build by later in the week.

Just a Few Storms

Partly Cloudy today with temperatures near normal for late June. Most areas will reach the Low-Mid 80's by this afternoon. There is still a chance for a few scattered hit and miss Showers or Storms. By Monday, another disturbance will bring an even better chance for Scattered Showers and Storms but once again, not everyone will see Rain. Temperatures will hold in the 80's for the next several days.

Wet For Some

With a mixture of clouds and sun, look for scattered showers and thunderstorms for parts of the area especially by this afternoon into this evening. Not everyone will see Rain. Partly cloudy tonight with patchy fog. With a Partly Cloudy sky both Sunday and Monday, there will only be a Slight chance of a few stray Showers and Thundershowers. Temperatures will hold in the Low-Mid 80's over the next few days.

An Unsettled Weekend

A mostly cloudy sky will remain overhead tonight with just a few patchy showers possible. Most of the region will remain on the dry side. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely part of your Saturday but I still don't think it will be totally wet. Saturday is the first official day of summer as the summer solstice takes place at 7:59 tonight. Just isolated chances of thunderstorms remain in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.

Some Rain Chances Return For The Weekend

There will be some changes to our weather pattern as we go into the weekend. We will see a few more clouds today (a little bit more moisture), slightly warmer temperatures and just a very small chance of a few pop-up afternoon storms. The better chance for more "widespread" storms appears to be Saturday, although not everyone will see rain. Temperatures should remain slightly below average as well (in the lower 80s) through the weekend.

Another Mild Night

A few clouds are expected this evening but a mostly clear sky will return overnight with temperatures cooling into the 50's.  Most of the region should be dry on Friday with just a slim chance of an isolated storm as highs return to the 80's. The best chance for rain will come on Saturday as a cold front approaches the area. Rain chances decrease again on Sunday so the weekend won't be totally wet.

Nearly "Picture Perfect" Again Today

The streak continues with lower relative humidity values, below-average temperatures and sunshine. As they say though, "All good things must end". Temperatures get a little warmer in the overnight hours and it will be a little more "sticky" during the afternoons. We could use some rainfall as we are now nearly three and a quarter inches below average for the year, but we will probably have to wait until the weekend just to see some scattered chances.

Another Beautiful Night

After a high of 80 degrees today, you can plan on another great night ahead.  A full moon under a clear sky will greet you overhead.  Like last night, cooler than normal temperatures are expected with lows averaging some 10 degrees below normal levels for this time of year.  A few clouds may mix with the sun Thursday afternoon but low humidity will keep it comfortable once again. Scattered showers and storms return to the forecast late Friday and part of the weekend.

A Nice Break From The Heat

It doesn't feel like mid-June, but I haven't heard too many complaints...especially after multiple weeks in the upper 80s and low 90s. This is a nice change and it should stick around for a few days. The mornings will be refreshing in the 50s and during the day we will see highs in the lower 80s. The rain chances will remain low, but spotty chances will return by the end of the week/weekend.

A Refreshing Night Ahead

High pressure builds into the area tonight bringing a welcome break from the heat and humidity.  Low temperatures will drop some 10 degrees below average by sunrise Wednesday and much the same is expected Thursday and Friday. A slight chance of thunderstorms resturns late Friday with slightly better chances on Saturday.  We need some rain....officially Knoxville is about three and a half inches below normal rainfall for this time of the year.
