A Quiet Start To The Week

After a cool start we see a quick warm up this afternoon with a lot of sunshine and highs in the upper 80s to near 90 range (about 10 degrees above average). Tueaday looks warm as well with near 90 readings, just a few afternoon clouds and a "slim" chance for a few pop-up afternoon storms (mainly for the Plateau and Mountains). The scattered storm threat goes up for Wednesday and storms look likely by the time we get to Thursday. There will be some "cooler" temperatures by then as well.

Warm Days Ahead

Becoming clear and cooler tonight as temperatures will drop back into the 50's. That will be another night to enjoy ! Mostly sunny and quite warm tomorrow as temperatures reach the Mid to Upper 80's. We will see a few more clouds over the Mountains. Partly cloudy Tuesday with temperatures again in the Mid-Upper 80's. By Tuesday there is a SLIGHT chance of a stray Shower or Thundershower mainly across the Plateau and the Mountains. Rain chances will increase everywhere by mid to late week. Join me for another look at your forecast on 6 News at 11.

A Mostly Dry Weekend

We will see a lot of sunshine to start the day with an increase in late afternoon/evening clouds. Highs will reach the Low-Mid 80s. We may see a few scattered showers & storms very late today. Many areas will see a Shower or a Storm this evening with patchy fog late tonight. Partly cloudy with very low rain chances on Sunday as temperatures warm to the Mid 80's. We will see rather warm temperatures much of next week. Join me for a look at those possible Storms for tonight on 6 News at 6 and 11.

Still A Slight Chance

We will still see a slight chance for a few pop-up showers or rumbles across the area, but it will not be a total washout. In fact, we should see a little bit of clearing by late day. Tonight looks great with some cooler conditions and Saturday looks mostly sunny. There is a slight chance of a "thunderstorm complex" moving out of Kentucky and into Tennessee late Saturday Night into Sunday morning, but I still think most of the weekend will be dry.

A Few More Showers & Storms

Mostly cloudy tonight with more scattered showers and a few thundershowers as a cold front pushes across the state. A few scattered showers will still linger in parts of the area tomorrow, especially the mountains. Showers will taper off later in the day. Saturday looks like a partly sunny day with warm temperatures and lower humidity but a weak system MAY bring a few more Showers or Storms Saturday Night and Sunday but they will be quite scattered.

The Unsettled Pattern Continues

It will be another evening of scattered Showers and Thunderstorms. A few may be Strong. Patchy fog is possible. The Rain/storm threat continues for Thursday and Thursday Night as a cool front will push through the region. The showers should taper off after Friday morning. Saturday looks nice with lower humidity values and sunshine. There are some indications that a weak system may bring a few Showers or Thunderstorms Saturday Night into Sunday but at this point the chance of rain on Sunday is only 20%. Next week looks dry to start, but warmer temperatures are on the way.

Scattered Showers & Storms Continue

Some areas will see another round of scattered Showers and Thunderstorms this evening. A few may be strong. Patchy fog is possible late tonight. The warm and muggy weather pattern will continue for a few more days. Although not everyone will get wet, Rain and Storm chances look a little more likely Wednesday into Thursday, but taper off by the end of the week leaving a drier, less humid weekend along with plenty of sunshine.

Scattered Showers Will Continue

A few more showers are possible tonight along with some patchy fog. We will continue to see partly to mostly cloudy conditions with scattered, pop-up, mainly afternoon & evening showers and storms. Not everyone will see them. This pattern will stay with us through late week when a cold front looks like it will push through the region. If this happens, the weekend should be drier and a little less humid...we will see.

An Unsettled Pattern

Look for some scattered showers and thundershowers this evening. Variable Clouds on Monday (Memorial Day) with more scattered hit and miss showers or thundershowers. Not everyone will see rain. It will remain warm and muggy with hit and miss showers and thundershowers for most of the upcoming week. A weak front should increase the chance of Showers and Storms by late week. Join me for an update on your forecast on 6 News tonight at 11.

Rain Chances On The Rise Again

With a mixture of clouds and sun, most of the area will remain dry today but there is a slight chance of a few stray showers or thundershowers here and there. Low pressure along the Gulf Coast is forecast to spin more moisture into the region on Sunday increasing our chances of rain, especially in the morning. A typical summer pattern settles in Memorial Day with just a few scattered afternoon storms possible along with warm muggy conditions. We'll keep you updated on your holiday weekend forecast tonight on 6 News at 6 and 11.

A Few Showers & More Humidity

With a mixture of clouds and sun, we may see a few hit and miss showers both today and tomorrow. It will be warm and more humid then the past few days.
A disturbance will bring a better chance of wet weather especially late Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. But by Monday (Memorial Day) we should return to hit and miss showers along with warm muggy conditions. Join Matt Hinkin for an update on your holiday weekend forecast on 6 News Tonight at 5, 6 and 11.

A Few Clouds Tonight

Another dry night is on the way with few more clouds expected overhead. Rain chances this weekend will mainly be confined to the higher elevations of the plateau and mountains but a renegade shower could slide down into the valley. Better chances of showers and thunderstorms increase toward Memorial Day and into next week but don't chance outdoor plans quite yet.

More Of The Same...

We will continue to see sunshine with a "slow" increase of clouds each day as we head into the weekend, but temperatures will remain mild in the lower 80s. Rain chances will be at a minimum as well with only a slight chance for "hit or miss" afternoon storms Saturday through Memorial Day. The better opportunity for wet weather appears to return towards the middle of next week.

Clear And Comfortable Tonight

A bunch of stars remain overhead tonight as high pressure stays firmly in control. It will still be cool but not like the last couple of nights. A slight chance of thundershowers returns to the plateau Thursday but most of the region looks basically dry through Saturday. Rain chances look to increase by late weekend or Memorial Day depending on the track of low pressure in the Gulf Of Mexico right now.

The Warm Up Returns Today

Even after some chilly mornings, we have seen a pretty steady warm up each afternoon this week. Today is no exception...after starting in the 40s again today, we should see upper 70s to low 80s with a lot of sunshine by the afternoon. It is a big Holiday Weekend coming up and many of you will have outdoor plans...it looks pretty good. The rain chances for Saturday and Sunday are VERY slim and will most likely be confined to the Smokies and Plateau, but they look a liitle higher for Monday and most of us will see rain heading back to work on Tuesday.

Frost NOT A Concern Tonight

High pressure remains in control of the forecast tonight allowing plenty of stars to be seen tonight. A light northeast breeze will keep the atmosphere mixed tonight which will help keep temperatures a little warmer. Frost is not expected to be a problem overnight. A few clouds mix in the next couple of days but rain chances remain slim to none.

A Warm-Up Is On The Way

After another chilly morning in the upper 30s and lower 40s, we will see afternoon temperatures closer to where we should be for this time of year (mid-upper 70s) with plenty of sunshine. We will see lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday with a few more clouds, but it will remain rain-free. Spotty storm chances return Friday and Saturday (mainly just hit or miss afternoon opportunities), but look a little more likely Sunday into Memorial Day as we start to see a little more of a pattern change across the region.

Frost Advisory Is Expanded

The FROST ADVISORY that was in effect for the plateau originally has been expanded to include the ENTIRE WATE VIEWING AREA. A general hard frost is not expected but wide spread frost is likely. You may want to protect your young spring plants if you live a frost prone area.

Blackberry Winter Tonight

A starry sky under the influence of high pressure is on the way tonight. The unusually cold air will help produce some scattered frost. A FROST ADVISORY is in effect SE Kentucky as well as Cumberland and Fentress counties. There could even be some pockets of frost in valley locations. Just to be safe, it may not be a bad idea to cover those tender spring plants. A nice warming trend gets underway tomorrow with the next chance of rain coming late in the week.

A Fall-like Feel To Start The Week

We will see a few chilly mornings to start the week with lows in the low-mid 40s this morning and upper 30s to near 40 by Tuesday morning (record low for Knoxville 5/19 is 38 set in 1976). Temperatures will recover nicely this afternoon in the upper 60s with sunshine, mid 70s for Tuesday and near 80 by Wednesday. The end of the week forecast is based partially on the potential development of an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico combined with a cold front moving into Kentucky. We will follow this as we go through the next few days to see how it will affect us.

A Cool Start To The Week

Gradual clearing but unseasonably cool tonight with lows in the Low 40's. Mostly sunny with below normal temperatures tomorrow. Highs will remain in the 60's. Lows will be back in the Upper 30's to Low 40's one more time. Monday Night before a warming trend kicks in for the rest of the week.

Evening Thunderstorms Should Die Out

Another round of showers and storms developed over the Smoky Mountains this afternoon and will move through the valley locations this evening bringing heavy rain and the chance for some small hail and gusty winds. A small chance of showers starts off your Saturday with better coverage coming Saturday afternoon into Saturday night and Sunday morning. Much cooler air is expected Sunday into Sunday night and Monday. The 6 Storm Team will have a complete update on 6 News at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00pm.

A Repeat Performance

Today will look and feel a lot like yesterday. We will see a mix of clouds and sun, warm, humid conditions and some "pop-up" afternoon/evening thunderstorms. And like yesterday, some of the storms could have some gusty winds and the possibility of locally heavy rainfall (because they will be slow moving storms). Rain chances remain high for the weekend, especially late Saturday into early Sunday. We will dry out and cool down through the afternoon Sunday with some sunshine returning to start the new work-week.

Spotty Evening T-Storms Possible

A few scattered storms dot the radar this evening. Some could become strong before dying out as we get closer to sunset. We could see the same scenario Friday with scattered afternoon storms developing again. An approaching cold front brings a better chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into the first part of Sunday. You will also notice some cooler air as well. Drier air slides into the region early next week. I'll have a look at Storm Tracker 6 on 6 News at 6:00 and 11:00pm.

Warmer And A Little More Humid

It will feel a little more like Summer the next few days with a mix of sun and clouds, warmer temperatures (lower 80s) and a noticable increase in humidity. We will also see a few spotty late day thunderstorms (today's more favored area appears to be along the Plateau) across the region. The wet weather "threat" goes up as we go into the weekend before cooling off and clearing out as we head into a new week.
