Some Rumbles Before Sunrise

A cluster of showers and thunderstorms will move through the Tennessee Valey before sunrise bringing some strong gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail to some areas. Most of the activity should move out before sunrise. Most of the region remains dry on Wednesday with very slim chances of rain Thursday and Friday ahead of scattered storms for the holiday weekend.

A Mild End To June

A few thin clouds will float by tonight but most of the region should remain clear. A nice cool morning is on the way as lows drop into the 50's and low 60's by sunrise. Another great day is on the way Wednesday before a gradual increase in humidity late in the week. Chances of scattered storms increase toward the weekend.

The Tranquil Pattern Continues

If you liked Monday's forecast, I think you will be happy the next few days...mostly sunny, lower humidity values and highs near or below average (mid 80s). Overnight lows will be very comfortable as well in the upper 50s to lower 60s, so you can give the A/C a break. Moisture will start to return late week bringing the risk for scattered storms by the time we get to the Holiday Weekend.

Refreshing Air Tonight

High pressure remains in control tonight bringing a starry sky along with refreshing air. Many areas could start off in the 50's by Tuesday morning. Humidity levels should remain low through Wednesday with a gradual increase in moisture late in the week. Scattered thunderstorms will return to the forecast by the holiday weekend.

A "Less Humid" Week Ahead

After what has seemed to be an endless pattern of high heat and humdity with strong to severe storms nearly every day, we will see a break to start the new week. Less humid air moves into the region for several days bringing lots of sunshine, seasonable daytime temperatures and no chance for rain. The overnight lows will be the most comfortable through Thursday as they fall off into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Enjoy it!

A Great Start To The Week

The showers and storms have ended as a cold front has moved through our area. Patchy Fog is possible late tonight. Behind this front, some VERY PLEASANT Summer weather is on tap for a good part of next week. Look for cool nights and sunny mild days. Humidity levels will also be LOW.The next few days we will see highs in the Mid 80's and Nights in the Upper 50's to the Low 60's. It will be several days to enjoy !

Turning Up The Heat...

The morning shower/storm activity fizzles out before lunchtime, but it is going to be a hot one today with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s-lower 90s. This will allow our atmosphere to "recover" and lead to additional scattered storms this afternoon/evening. We are under a "Slight Risk" for severe weather this afternoon with damaging wind gusts being the main threat. The region looks rain-free, but quite steamy on Saturday, but there is another Slight Risk for severe storms area-wide on Sunday. Stay tuned to Channel 6, wate.com and Twitter (@wateweather) for updates throughout the day.

A Few Showers & Storms

Partly cloudy and warmer tonight with a slight chance of an overnight T-Shower. Not everyone will see rain but we will see the return of scattered Showers and Storms tomorrow. Saturday, rain chances will remain low but it will be quite hot with temperatures in the Low-Mid 90's. A cold front will bring another round of Showers and Storms by later Sunday. This front will move far to the south for this time of the year. We should enjoy pleasant Summer weather by early next week.

Humidity Levels Creep Back Up Today

After a nearly perfect day for late June yesterday (High: 86/low humidity values), it is back to reality as we head into the weekend. We will see another nice day for outdoor plans today...Mostly sunny, near 90, but it will be a little more humid. There will be a slight chance for a pop-up thunderstorm overnight, but the better bet comes Friday afternoon/evening (30%-40%) coverage. Saturday will be rain-free, but it will be hot & humid. Sunday, look for scattered storms to return.

About The Same Tomorrow

Clear and comfortable again tonight with Lows in the Low-Mid 60's Some patchy fog is possible. More sunshine tomorrow with highs between 85 and 90. The only difference will be Air Quality as Tomorrow will be an OZONE ACTION DAY. As a disturbance moves our way, late Thursday Night and into Friday we will bring back the chance of scattered Showers and Thunderstorms, but not for everyone.. Looking ahead, after a very hot and humid but rain free Saturday, another front may bring more Showers and Storms by late Sunday and they may continue into Monday.

Another Day To Dry Out

We will get another day to dry out today with a mostly sunny sky, highs near 90 and less humid conditions...all in all, a nice Summer day. We will see a few more clouds Thursday and highs again near 90, but a few scattered storms will be possible late Thursday Night into Friday and again late Sunday into Monday.

Warm Days Ahead

Becoming clear and more comfortable tonight with temperatures in the Low-Mid 60's. There may be some patchy late night fog. We may see a few clouds tomorrow but it will another dry day with temperatures between 85 and 90. You will also notice it wont be quite as muggy as recent days have been. Clear and pleasant Wednesday Night. Mostly sunny Thursday with temperatures Near 90. But we may see scattered Showers and a few Thunderstorms return to the area by Friday. Join me for a forecast update again on 6 News at 6 and again at 11.

A Break From The Wet Weather

We should see a break from the showers and storms today as the bulk of the activity shifts West between Crossville and Nashville. We will see more sunshine and more heat though with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 today. The "drier" conditions and heat will linger into Wednesday and Thursday, but the weather pattern will turn "unsettled" again by the end of the week/weekend.

Less Rain & More Heat

Partly cloudy tonight. Some Patchy Dense Fog is possible late tonight into early tomorrow. The front that has kept us rather stormy the past few days will move slightly west tomorrow. So except for a Slight chance of a Thunderstorm across the Plateau, most of the area will see a dry day but it will remain hot and muggy. Look for hot temperatures and no rain on Wednesday and Thursday before scattered showers and storms may return again by late week.

A New Week...The Same Forecast

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR THE ENTIRE AREA UNTIL 8pm. Summer has officially arrived, even though it has felt like it for weeks. The heat and humidity continue again today with more scattered storms for some (especailly from Knoxville back along the Plateau). And once again the storms could contain locally heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning. The coverage of today's storms are at about 40% for the Valley and 60%+ for The Plateau. The Mountains will only see about 20%-30% coverage and that is really from Sevier County Southward.

More Scattered Showers & Storms

A weak front will sit in our area the next few days. We may see more scattered showers and storms develop tonight. Hot and muggy again tomorrow. Look for more scattered Showers & Storms for some of you again tomorrow and tomorrow night. High pressure should lower rain chances much of the rest of the week but hot temperatures Near 90 will continue for much of the week as well. Scattered hit and miss storms may return again by late week. Join me for another check on your forecast on 6 News tonight at 11.

A HOT Father's Day Weekend

A Weak front trying to push to the south may bring a few scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight. Look for more heat tomorrow along with a slight chance of a stray thunderstorm here and there. Temperatures will again be close to 90 with the Heat Index (How hot it FEELS on your skin) reaching the Mid-Upper 90's. There is a chance of a few more scattered showers or Thunderstorms, especially over the higher elevations. Early next week will remain hot along with that chance of a few showers and storms continuing as that weak front will remain in our area.

A HOT Father's Day Weekend

A mostly clear sky kicks off our weekend tonight with some patchy fog possible by morning. Plenty of heat is expected again Saturday afternoon with highs in the middle 90's producing a heat index near 100. A few stray t-storms are possible late Saturday afternoon. Father's Day is Sunday along with the first day of summer. Most of the day should be dry. Have a great weekend.

Storm Chances Go Down...Temperatures Go Up

The threat for severe weather has been silenced today, but Mother Nature will really turn up the heat the next few days. Highs today and Saturday will be in the low-mid 90s, but Heat Index values (what it will feel like when Relative Humidity is factored in) will be around 100-105. There is a slight risk for a pop-up, late day thunderstorm Saturday, but Sunday looks mainly dry. Next week will look and feel like Summer with spotty afternoon thunderstorms and highs in the upper 80s to near 90 range.

Severe Threat Over For Tonight

The line of thunderstorms that ripped through the area this afternoon has moved well into Georgia and the Carolinas. Just a slim chance of a shower remains in the forecast tonight. Most of the region remains dry with highs moving into the 90's. At times it may feel like 100 degrees during the afternoon. A few scattered storms are possible again Saturday afternoon. Get a complete update on 6News at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00pm.

Severe Weather Possible This Afternoon

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of the Channel 6 viewing area for this afternoon. A powerful line of storms will drop out of Central Kentucky and roll through East Tennessee in the early afternoon hours. The estimated time of arrival appears to be between 1pm-3pm EDT (Noon-2pm CDT). Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threat with the storms that do push through. We will keep you updated throughout the day on WATE-6 and www.wate.com

A Calmer Night Ahead

The severe thunderstorm watch is over so a much calmer night is on tap. We still have the chance of a spotty storm redeveloping but that is not expected to be widespread. Low lying areas may have some high water so be careful driving. Patchy fog is possible early Thursday before the heat really gets going during the afternoon. Get a complete update on Good Morning Tennessee with Meteorologist Ken Weathers.

Severe T-Storm WATCH Extended

The Severe T-Storm WATCH was scheduled to expire at 8:00pm. It has been extended to 10:00pm. A few severe t-storms are still possible. Watch for updates on WATE and on 6 New at 11:00pm.

Severe T-Storm WATCH Until 8:00pm

All of the WATE viewing area is under a severe thunderstorm WATCH until 8:00pm. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in the area late this afternoon and evening. The strongest storms could produce large hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain and wind damage along with an isolated tornado. The 6 Storm Team will be monitoring Storm Tracker 6 all afternoon for changing conditions.

More Severe Storms Possible This Afternoon/Evening

Once again, the entire Channel 6 viewing area is under a "Slight Risk" for severe storms and like yesterday, damaging wind gusts and even a few isolated tornadoes will be possible. We had one round of severe weather across N.E. Tennessee this morning, but a better opportunity will once again come in the late afternoon/evening time frame as the atmosphere heats up into the mid-upper 80s under a mix of sun and clouds (damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible). We are also under a FLASH FLOOD WATCH through this evening with isolated flooding possible.
