Drier Air To Start The Weekend

Clouds will be on the decrease tonight allowing some patchy fog to develop across the region. Most of the area will be dry on Saturday with only an isolated shower or storm possible. A weak cold front approaches Saturday night and Sunday increasing the chances of rain once again. Typical August heat is expected to return early next week. You can follow the 6 Storm Team at www.twitter.com/wateweather.

Wet Weather Still Expected Today

A Flood Watch remains in effect across most of our region through this evening as the potential for widespread rains continue. Today looks a lot like yesterday where the better opportunity for rain will come earlier in the day with the coverage become more sporadic by evening. The weekend doesn't look like a washout either, in fact, most areas look dry Saturday with highs in the upper 80s. Scattered showers/storms are back in the forecast though for Sunday.

FLOOD WATCH TONIGHT

Rain is expected to move back into the region tonight bringing some moderate to heavy downpours. With already saturated ground from recent rains, you could see some high water in low lying areas especially. For that reason, a FLOOD WATCH remains in effect through Friday at 7:00pm. Rain coverage should decrease on Friday afternoon with only small chances for rain on Saturday. Remember you can "follow" the 6 Storm team at www.twitter.com/wateweather. Have a good evening.

Not Much Change To The Forecast

We will once again see a variably cloudy sky with a 60% coverage of scattered showers and a few storms. And like yesterday, the better bet seems to be the first half of the day. We may see a little sunshine during the afternoon before a few more evening rumbles develop. A wider coverage of showers and storms look more likely overnight and some of the rain could be locally heavy. This threat continues into the eraly morning hours of Friday as well.

The Soggy Weather Pattern Continues

The overall weather pattern remains the same the next couple of days. That will keep east Tennessee in a wet and cooler than normal pattern while record heat builds in the west. Showers and scattered storms are likely overnight and part of the day tomorrow. Another batch if rain is likely Friday. While rain chances remain on Saturday, the rain won't be as widespread. Remember you can follow WATE Storm Team weather at www.twitter.com/wateweather

More Wet Weather On Tap

Keep the rain gear handy again today as scattered showers will linger across the region. It will not be raining all the time, but periods of rain look likely today, especially the first half on the day. Temperatures will be held down in the lower 80s as well with the increased cloud cover. The forecast will remain "unsettled" the rest of the week with another round of moderate to heavy rain by Friday. Scattered showers/storms are possible again for the weekend.

Wet At Times Tonight

Waves of rain will move through the area tonight with breaks in the rain at times. Some areas have already received 1-2 inches of rain so rising water in low lying areas is possible. Pockets of rain are possible on and off through midday Wednesday with rain chances decreasing by the afternoon. The rest of the week looks unsettled too. Learn more by following us at www.twitter.com/wateweather.

Rain Chances On The Rise

We will see another warm and humid day with highs in the mid-upper 80s and a few scattered afternoon storms (30%-40% coverage). The threat for storms with potentially heavy rain goes up dramatically overnight into Wednesday morning (some areas could see more than 1" of rain). The wind will be a little gusty overnight as well (SW 10-20mph)keeping temperatures mild in the upper 60s to near 70 range. The rain chances are a little more spotty Wednesday afternoon, but look likely again wrapping up the week on Friday.

A More "Summer-Like" Feel on Tuesday

We have a slight chance of an overnight shower. Also look for patchy fog late tonight & early tomorrow. It will feel a bit more like Summer again tomorrow with temperatures in the Mid-Upper 80s. We may see a few storms later in the day but we are only looking at a 20%-30% coverage with better chances across the Plateau. Showers & Storms will then become likely Tuesday Night into Wednesday. We will see more scattered Showers & Storms Thursday. Yet another system will bump up the chances for Rain & Storms even higher again on Friday.

Scattered Showers Continue

A weak front will bring a few scattered showers or T-Storms tonight along with some patchy fog. Variable Clouds tomorrow. We will still see a few scattered showers or thunderstorms. It will NOT be an all day rain and not everyone will see rain. As the front falls apart, Tuesday we will see a SLIGHT chance of rain as temperatures rise well into the 80's. But another series of disturbances will bring back a good chance for Showers and Thunderstorms by mid-late week. Join me for a forecast update on 6 News tonight at 11. More Showers and Storms

Except for the Mountains, it is a Wet Sunday morning in most of our area and the rain is moving towards the Mountains as well. As a front gets closer to our area . we will continue to see Showers and Storms in the forecast today and again tonight, although it will NOT be an all day washout. It looks like that front will remain close to our area much of next week keeping those scattered showers & storms in the forecast. Join me for an update on 6 News tonight at 6 and 11. Welcome To The Weekend

A few showers are possible Saturday night with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible on Sunday. Be sure to follow the 6 Storn Team at twitter.com/wateweather

A "50/50" Weekend For Outdoor Plans

We will wrap up the week on a quiet note after a little bit of patchy fog early Friday, we will see a mostly sunny, seasonable afternoon (mid-upper 80s). Changes start through the day Saturday with some sunshine early and an increase in clouds by afternoon (but it looks fine for outdoor plans). There will be a slight chance for some stray showers/storms Saturday Night, but rain looks more likely Sunday. The weather pattern turns to a more "unsettled" one next week with spotty afternoon storm chances just about every afternoon/evening and temperatures close to where we should be for late July.

Clouds Move Out Tonight

High pressure moves into the area tonight pushing the clouds out and allowing some patchy fog to form. It will be a cool start to your Friday with tempeartures in the 50's and low 60's. Seasonable temperatures are in the forecast for Friday and Saturday followed by rain chances increasing Saturday night into Sunday. Be sure to follow the 6 Storm Team at www.twitter.com/wateweather

Warmer, Drier Weather On The Way

After a few overnight sprinkles, light showers, we will see some drier and warmer weather settle in the next few days. Temperatures will push up into the mid-upper 80s, but that is still right about where we should be for this time of July. The threat of more widespread showers and storms look set to return to the region by the end of the weekend on Sunday.

Some Showers Possible Tonight

A slow moving cold front approaches from the west this evening keeping a chance of showers and scattered storms in the forecast. Most of the region will be dry Thursday with only a 20% chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Near normal temperatures return to the region Friday and Saturday before rain chances increase again Saturday night or Sunday.

Some Wet Weather Expected Today

A potent storm system will move out of West Tennessee up through Eastern Kentucky today and create widespread rain across most of the Plateau. Because this storm is moving a little more Northeast up into Kentucky, the rain coverage will decrease across our area from West to East, meaning there will be a little less likely to see rain for the Valley and even more unlikely to see widespread rain for the Mountains. It will not be an all day rain either with some dry times expected. Slightly warmer and drier weather is expected towards the end of the week.

Clouds Return Tonight

Low pressure near Arkansas is spinning clouds our way leading to an increase in clouds overnight. A few showers are possible late tonight but most likely along the plateau. A few showers and scattered storms are possible Wednesday but rain chances decrease again on Thursday. The next best chance for rain after tomorrow comes Saturday night and Sunday.

Slightly Warmer Weather On The Way

After several days in the 70s, and tying a record low Monday morning, we barley cracked into the 80s Monday afternoon with a high of 80. We will once again see some sunshine and and a few clouds around today, and like yesterday, there will be a few spotty showers/storms towards the Foothills and Mountains. There will be a better opportunity of more widespread showers/storms across the region on Wednesday into Thursday.

Another Cool Night To Enjoy

Unusually cool air will remain in place tonight with a partly cloudy sky expected overhead. A few spotty afternoon showers are possible Tuesday afternoon but mainly over the higher elevations. The rain chances increase throughout the area by midweek with temperatures slowly working toward normal levels. The record low for Tuesday morning is 59 degrees. Still Quite Cool For July

The unseasonably cool conditions continue today after seeing lows in the 50s and highs in the mid 70s this weekend. We will see a mix of sun and clouds and even a slight chance for a few sprinkles/light showers around (20% coverage for Valley and 40% coverage for Mountains. Plateau should be dry). High temperatures should once again be below average in the mid-upper 70s. The unsettled weather pattern should continue through the week with spotty rain/storm chances and continued below-average temperatures.

More Cool Weather For July

Partly cloudy and unseasonably cool again tonight. The Record Low on Monday Morning for Knoxville is 60 and right now it looks like we may see temperatures in the Upper 50's. Partly Cloudy with a few scattered showers possible on Monday, especially over the Mountains. It will be another cool day with temperatures again between 75 and 80. Temperatures will gradually warm during the upcoming week, although they will remain in the 80's. We will continue with a slight chance of scattered showers through mid week with rain chances gradually getting higher by later in the week.

Relief From The Humidity On The Way

A cold front will gradually push through the region tonight taking most of the chance of rain with it. Some rain is still possible through midnight or so. It should be much more comfortable on Saturday under a partly cloudy sky with lower humidity. Record lows could be threatened early Sunday morning followed by highs for most areas only in the 70's. A gradual warming trend starts on Monday. **PROGRAM NOTE** Good morning Tennessee begins at 7:00am both Saturday and Sunday mornings this weekend thanks to the airing of the British Open on ABC.

A Few More Storms Today...Quieter Weekend

A cold front will sweep through the region during the day increasing rain/storm chances. Some of the rain could be locally heavy and there could be some gusty winds as well. Behind the front though, an incredible air mass will settle into the region bringing the possibility of some record low temperatures by Sunday and Monday morning and daytime highs in the uper 70s and lower 80s.
