Winter-Like Weather Across The Area This Afternoon

It IS Spring, but it will feel more like Winter this afternoon across the region. Cold Northwest winds will continue to filter into the area keeping temperatures in the low-mid 40s for most areas in the Valley and even colder for the Plateau and Mountains. There have been some light accumulations of snow along the Northern edges of the Plateau, along portions of the Southern Foothills and into the Smokies. Light snow should continue at times through the afternoon and totals could range from 1"-3" in these higher elevation areas (because of this a Snow Advisory has been issued until 4pm above 2,000ft). The Valley locations will mainly see a light rain, possibly mixed with a few snow flakes, but no travel problems are expected. Tuesday will bring a return to sunshine and temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 range.
